Services

Physical and online book catalog; digital collections via Hoopla, Cloud Library, and Libby; children’s resources including Beanstack, Lightbox, and Snappywords; genealogy research materials; scan, copy, fax, and laminate services; homebound delivery; a summer reading program; and an Ellison die-cut machine for craft projects. The library is fine-free — it no longer charges overdue fines on returned materials, though lost or damaged items are still subject to replacement fees. A tech help desk is now available Fridays 4-6pm for help with library apps, patron computers, Wi-Fi, and printers (not for online bill pay or other financial transactions). A Friends of the Library group supports the branch through fundraising, including a monthly book sale. A Thousand Hills StoryWalk — a self-guided story trail along the Forest Lake Trail at Thousand Hills State Park, with pages from a different children’s book posted each month — is presented jointly with the park; see adairco.org for the current title.

Makerspace — 2nd Wednesday, 4pm (ages 6+)
Lego Day — 3rd Wednesday, 4pm (all ages)
Youth Group — 2nd Tuesday, 4pm (ages 9-19; the library’s calendar shows this replacing the former Teen Tuesday, now open to a wider age range)
Introduction to Mahjong — 16+, alternating Mondays (1pm) and Wednesdays (5:30pm); four sessions in October 2026 (see library calendar for the next one)

Program dates vary month to month — the library publishes its current schedule in its monthly newsletter and on its Google Calendar, both linked from adairco.org/calendar-events. The newsletter also lists additional programs beyond this recurring lineup — recent issues have included themed movie nights and craft classes such as Amigurumi — so it’s worth checking directly. Call 660-665-6038 to confirm before visiting for a specific program. See our roundup of one-time October events — an author visit, Truck or Treat, and more.
