The City of Kirksville’s Street Maintenance Division is in the middle of its 2026 Annual Street Program, a citywide push covering street reconstruction, concrete repairs, surface sealing and asphalt mill-and-overlay work on numerous residential and collector streets. The city has not published week-by-week closure dates for individual streets, and as of Sept. 14 no MoDOT-reported closures fall inside Kirksville city limits either — the nearest state-route work is a one-day MoDOT culvert closure on Missouri Route 11 outside town on Sept. 15.
If a street near you is torn up, it’s likely part of this program. See the city’s 2026 Annual Street Program map (PDF) for the list of affected streets, or contact the Street Maintenance Division directly at 660-627-1291. For real-time closure notices, residents can sign up for the city’s CivicReady alerts.
Full county-by-county detail, including MoDOT work in Adair County and its bordering counties, is in the Wire’s Sept. 14 road construction report.
