The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Adair County and surrounding northeast Missouri counties, in effect through late Thursday night into early Friday morning. Two to four inches of rain have already fallen across the watch area, with another half inch to inch and a half forecast, raising the risk of flooding on rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying, flood-prone locations.
The watch covers Adair, Buchanan, Daviess, De Kalb, Grundy, Mercer, Putnam, Schuyler and Sullivan counties in Missouri. The Weather Service advises residents to monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings, and says those living in flood-prone areas should be prepared to take action if flooding develops.
